The temperature outside has no real effect on weight loss. Some people may tend to stay inside and eat more when it's cold, but it's calories in vs calories burned that affects weight gain and weight loss (fat gain/loss)...not how hot or cold it is outside.

In fact, you burn more calories when you are cold/shivering than when you are warm/sweating...but that's not saying shivering is a good weight loss method.

Eat right
Exercise

No matter what time of year, THAT is the way to lose weight and keep it off.

Weight Loss Tip ) Choose Protein

Choose protein-laden foods for boosting your metabolism and enabling your body to burn fat rapidly. In addition to burning fat, consuming a protein-enriched diet will help you rebuild muscle after work outs and maintain leanness of that muscle. Wisely choose proteins for your diet. Take great care to pick proteins low in fat so you do not consume extra calories.

Depends on you caloric intake. The cold temp. does increase your metabolism because it needs to warm your body up. I suppose you would if you ate few calories. Nothing dramatic though, you'd have to continue that.

I've heard this. I remember Covert Bailey (popular fitness guru in the 90's) saying that he goes out in the cold without a coat often, to increase his brown fat. Most of us aren't really exposed to much cold, though, with our good coats and heated homes. You wouldn't automatically lose weight in the winter time, unless you are actually exposed to the cold. 150 years ago, people were exposed to cold a lot of the time. We aren't.
