Whats the best and most effective exercise to lose weight in the Abdominal area around the belly button?
I am doing regular crunches and oblique crunches for the love handle area and am happy with the results so far. What is the BEST exercise for the lower abs ( the part just above the waistline around the belly button)? Also looking for anything more effective than just plain crunches for the upper abs.

it is really good if you could get one of the exercise balls. they may have a booklet that shows workout positions targeting your main points of interest
First of all, you can’t lose weight in any particular area. If you want to lose weight in your abdominal area, you have to lose weight all over your body.
Even if you do a 1000 crunches a day, the muscles you develop will be hidden beneath the fat in your midsection. And in order to lose that fat, you’ll have to burn more calories than you consume (a mix of cardio, strength training and eating right), which ultimately leads to weight loss.
And as for abdominal exercises, I’ve read that bicycle crunches work best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqoD0Bdggto
The exercise ball is also supposed to be really good since you have to work at stabilizing yourself on the ball.
Lay on your back put your hands under your lower back almost on your butt. Lift your head and pull your legs in together and then push them back out. Do about 3 sets of 8, then in the same position pull one leg in at a time. Pull your left leg in then push it back out, then pull your right leg in and push it back out. Do the same 3 sets of 8. Also there is another called the siccors, you are in the same position with your head lifted and your hands under your back, you lift your legs a little of the ground still extended and then open them to the sides and then criss cross them do this 3 sets of 8. You should start to feel it in your lower abs, also your can lift your legs extended to the celing and with your abs tighten push your legs to the celing with your toes pointed. Do 3 sets of 8, make sure your abs are pulled in, as if your sucking them into your spine. Good luck, hope this helps!
