stubborn belly fat….how can i get rid of it!?
I have been working out for 2 months now. I’ve noticed great results with my legs, upper body and upper abs. My lower abs are another story. No matter what I do, I cannot get the layer of fat off my lower abs. My upper abs are nice and I am beginning to actually see the muscle definition but then about halfway down, theres some stubborn fat that keeps my stomach from being flat. I do 2.5 miles on the eliptical or tredmill 5 days a week, followed by upper body weight training and lots of different abs exercises which include, about 80 bicycle crunches, 30 lower leg lifts and the “ab roller” for about 5-7 minutes. What else can I do? The whole rest of my body is looking great, it’s just my lower abs. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Let me restate the fact that I am doing cardio and stregth/toning exercises! Read the question!
I do 2.5 miles of running on the eliptical or treadmill every day M-F, which usually takes me 20 minutes. Right after my cardio, I do my strength training, which usually takes about 40 minutes and this is 4 times a week.

A lot of cardio and some weight lifting for toning, and a healthy diet!
CARDIO!!!
You didn’t say how long you exercise for. The amount of time you spend exercising is more important than the actual exercise you do.
Ab exercises are great – and know that you have good, strong muscles, under the fat. But to to burn the fat, you have to do aerobic exercises for at least 30 min/day, 3 times a week… you say you are doing 5 days/week – is all of it aerobic, though?
girl i got the same thing!!! all i do is try to get time in to do the ab lounge and i still have good results!! so all u have to do is get on an ab lounge you can see the results in about 2 days!!!although people say it wont work over night it does believe me!!!!good luck and work hard!!!!
Well, you can try Yoga especially Pranayaam and Kapaal Bhaati.
Realize you cannot spot reduce fat. Only reducing your overall body fat content will you likely be able to reduce belly fat. Stop drinking pop and beer if you havent already. You know what’s good for your body, just keep it up and your metabolism will eventually kick in!
The Zone diet totally addresses that belly fat. It is a matter of eating the right percentage of protein, carb & fat. It really works–no sit ups required. The link will explain it all.
“Eat a Zone meal or snack within one hour after waking
Eat every 4 to 6 hours after a meal or 2 to 2½ hours after a snack, whether you are hungry or not
Assess your hunger level and mental focus before every meal or snack. Lack of hunger and clarity of mind are signs you are staying in the Zone.
Drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day.
Start every meal or snack with low-fat protein. Next add low glycemic-load carbohydrates (i.e. vegetables and fruits) and good fats (i.e. olive oil). Remember, a typical serving of low-fat protein fits in your palm of your hand and is no thicker than your hand (about 3 ounces for most females and 4 ounces for most males) A typical snack contains 1 ounce of protein for both women and men.”
1. Cleaning up your diet is most important to losing body fat.
2. Focus on the intensity of your workouts and working your whole body. For the majority of the time, you should be training the largest muscle groups of the body like the chest, back and legs. Do lunges, squats, clean & presses, deadlifts, squats.
I noticed that you’re doing 20 mins of cardio, 5 times a week. Don’t focus on the length of your cardio workout. The intensity and variety of your workouts are more important to helping you lose body/belly fat.
3. Crunches and sit ups are the LEAST effective way to develop abs. They provide the least amount of resistance. It is resistance that tones up the muscles. Some good ab exercises include hanging leg raises and lying leg thrusts.

I used to have a fat belly until I discovered this program. It showed me what I was doing wrong and helped me lose belly fat permanently.
These are all good answers but I believe the right combination and timing of diet and exercise is what eluded me for so many years. I found out why everything I was doing was not working at this great website: http://www.6packabsecrets.com
I think the best lower ab exercise is decline reverse crunches.
I use to have a 4 pack, but when I added these my lower abs got more developed.
