How can an average thirteen year-old get six pack abs?
Hey everyone, i’d be glad if you can answer this question. i am an average thirteen year old boy, and i have decided to pursue the goal of having six pack abs by our next school swimming carnival.
i am not old enough to go to the gym yet, and i do not have any exercising equipment at home. i have been doing roughly 100 crunches per night as of yesterday, and our school swimming carnival is in february (we haven’t been told a date yet). i’d love to be able to have six pack abs by then, without the use of any equipment.
i am a vegetarian, so i therefore eat quite a lot of fruits and vegetables. i don’t eat very much – i usually don’t have breakfast, and then have a large lunch at 2pm, and then afternoon tea at 4:30 (a little snack), and then a large dinner at 7pm. i do occasionally have a little sweet ‘indulgence’, however i do not eat junk food (maccas etc.).
when i sometimes do have breakfast, it’s cereal or toast.
my question is in the additional details ![]()
my questions are:
1) would it be possible to get at least slightly visible six pack abs in a month st my age?
2) if so, what changes must i make to achieve this?
3) what exercise should i do in order to achieve this and for how long, taking into consideration the fact that i don’t have any equipment to use?
thank you so much if you are able to help.
one more thing: i am roughly 175cm, and i weigh 50kgs. my body mass index is 17, which is apparently underweight.
I am choosing the best answer tomorrow at 7pm, so hurry with your answers!

My friend Bre, is 14, and she has one. She does pilates.
100 crunches a day is a good start, and it sounds like you’re eating healthy. If you’re really wanting this by next month, try going up to 150. But this will only strenghthen your abs – it wont’ do any good if there’s a layer of fat around your midsection. Try running at least a few times a week. Running is a great way to trim fat and get that “cut” look.
Also, you might want to try alternating between regular crunches (bringing your ribcage up to your pelvis), reverse crunches (bringing your pelvis up to your ribcage), and side twists to work your obliques. This will give you total ab development.
Keep in mind, your still pretty young. Your going to keep growing till your 18. Not very many 13 yr olds have 6-packs
Trainer David Kirsch says: In order to lose that poof of fat, you need to follow my ABCs of nutrition: no alcohol, no bread and no starchy complex carbohydrates like potatoes and pasta. You should also do 30 to 45 minutes of cardiovascular exercise three to four days a week and a few exercises that focus on the oblique and the lower abdominals. Some examples are below at the iVillage – Your Total Health website. They work!! Good luck!
