Does an abdominal workout help you lose weight if you have a gut or will you just build muscle under fat?
I’m having quite a bit of trouble shedding pounds in my mid section while the rest of me is responding well to my diet and exercise routine. However I’ve heard that if I workout on my abs while not having achieved losing weight there, I would be building muscle under fat resulting in an even bigger belly! Is there any truth to this?

Build muscle under fat…
That’s the problem with bending your right elbow, ever time it bends, your mouth flys open, just cut down on your eating and the weight will fall off.Yeah,it sounds like you just have big stomach muscles, come on,you know what the problem is???
Yes. Spot reduction without liposuction is not possible. Here is an article that explains why:

You need to use good nutrition to lose the fat.
thats wright – abdominal exercises only build muscle (especially sit ups), they dont burn fat. the only fat burning exercise is cardio 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min) – it burns fat all over your body so if your belly has thicker layer of fat is will come off slower. dont forget to combine cardio with light weight training to not lose muscle (more muscle=faster metabolism)
