If your body fat percentage is around the 10% or less, and that likely is you, then your abs will be visible. More fat than that and they get hidden - it won't matter how small or well developed your abs are. So if you want to hide them, put on some weight.

However, as you've noticed, it's very normal to have abs which aren't symmetrical. But you'll find that your whole body is like that. It's why your face doesn't look the same in photographs as it does in the mirror. Next time you check yourself out in the mirror, take a look at your ears - it's very likely one is slightly higher than the other.

Paranoid yet? Well you shouldn't be. It's normal. So yes it is genetics if you like, but it isn't fixable without surgery, and I'm not entirely sure how well that would work. If you are doing a good all round program then you shouldn't need to do any abs work because they'll get all the exercise they need as you do the other exercises.

The other thing that you need to know about is balance. If you are going to work your abs then remember that you'll also need to work out the muscles in the small of your back to compensate. Core body workouts should help stabilise that.

A real girl will not care so much that your ab muscles are "crooked" ... she will be happy that you even have any, and that you're not packin' a fat gut.

Chill ... all is at peace with the universe.
