Any ideas what’s causing this?
ANY SUGGESTIONS TO WHAT THIS MAY BE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRICIATED, THANKS! For the past month or so, I’ve been getting a horrible pain in my lower abdomen while walking to work (different from the “workout cramp”). Then for about the last week, I have felt uncomfortably full, and haven’t really eaten because it’s been so uncomfortable (I normally don’t ever feel full, even after eating a large meal). Then this morning I woke up with my belly so swollen I looked like I was 9 months pregnant (I am 5’6″ and weigh 108lbs). When I’m sitting or laying down, it feels mildly uncomfortable, but when I stand up, it starts hurting bad in my lower abdomin, and my eyes get fuzzy, and I faint. I have been going to the bathroom regularly (it’s not constipation), am not gassy, and don’t have any other symptoms (fever, nausea, congestion, headache ect…). I was diagnosed with Chron’s disease about 2 years ago, and I didn’t have the surgery or take any meds, but I control it dietarily and haven’t had a flareup since. I don’t think whatever this is, is a Chron’s flareup because I don’t have any of the symptoms (no diarreha, vomiting, fever or intense tearing pain in my abdomin), plus it came on so sudd4enly. Any ideas at all????
Because someone answered about this, I don’t have celiac’s disese, that was ruled out in the beginning. I also don’t have diverticulitis, am not lactose intolerant, and my only known food allergy is coconut, but i certainly don’t eat that. Otherwise, my diet is pretty limited as to not have flare-ups, and I eat a lot of the same foods/ingredients everyday, and I rarely try new foods, so any type of food allergy seems out of the question. And I definitively have Chron’s, everything else was ruled out.

Have they ever tested you for celiac disease? A lot of people are diagnosed with Chrohn’s and IBS and other types of digestive problems and then they find out later that they either have celiac disease on top of or instead of their original diagnosis. It’s an autoimmune disease cause by gluten intolerance so the effects of it aren’t limited to just digestive or just diarrhea. They can include bloating, seizures, depression, weight gain, weight loss, basically all kinds of crazy symptoms. Definitely look into it.

edit: I’m glad they at least looked at celiac disease. A lot of physicians don’t even consider it. I do think you should still look at food though. Many people test negative for celiac disease and then find out that they have another type of gluten intolerance and there are false negatives. Some people are lactose intolerant, which I’m sure you’ve looked into, but it can pop up later in life, so look into that. I was told that food wasn’t the cause of my problems and then on a whim I tried a diet anyway and it turned out to be the culprit.
It also could be dumping syndrome. Which is a sensation you get when food moves out of your stomach too fast. It’s most often heard of in patients who have had bariatric surgery, but other people get it as well especially people with digestive ailments. I get it from time to time if some gluten slips in my diet. I would be so dizzy and nauseous and have terrible pain and bloating. It may just be the Chrohn’s disease presenting in a different way than you’ve seen before.
If this persists, definitely see a doctor. I’d hate for you to blow this off and then find out it’s something serious.
