do we really have to eat animals to keep slim, I HIGHLY doubt it. I think people just copy what others say and pass it on.

Yes we have to eat meat, yuo veggiefreak!
You can lose weight by cutting calories. You can also lose weight by eating a vegan diet which is healthy for you too.
It’s called having a balanced diet.
Look, you don’t want to eat meat and that’s fine. Don’t ruin it for the rest of us that actually happen to like it.
Animals are the best source of protein out there which is something your body needs. Sure you can get it from beans, nuts and other legumes but it’s not quite the same.
Settle down. Most “western” people eat meat. This is a fact and those who dispute it are ignorant. The emphasis on lean meat is so people don’t eat things like fatty sausages and other meats and expect to lose weight. Yes some people are that ignorant. A high protein diet has been proven beneficial in sensible weight loss and lots of protein is found in, you guessed it, MEAT.

P.S. I was vegetarian for 15 years.
It is meant that you should eat lean meat instead of meat high in fat like bacon or sausage.
I think that cultural history answers that question.

“keep a fresh diet with veggies, fruit, and lean meat” applies to a healthy diet. It doesn’t apply to weight loss. Incoporating lean meat into the phrase is beneficial in that people think a McDonalds cheese burger will surfice. Meat has the highest amount of protein, which is essential to health. That’s not to say you can’t be a vegetarian and not get adequate protein. A little education goes a long way!
Well if you don’t eat lean meat, then you do need to make sure you get your protein from alternative sources such as eggs, beans, pulses, nuts, seeds, soya and dairy products.
