i just started the south beach diet about 4 days ago. ive not lost any weight yet?
ive not eaten any bread,rice,pasta, etc but i think ive accidentally consumed a little bit of sugar? basically im wondering why i havent lost a pound after being on the diet for 4 days? The book says i should be loosing 8-14lbs in the first 2 weeks and im getting to the end of my first week and havent lost a single pound?

I used to be on the same diet. It just takes awhile. Eat NO FRUIT! That’s sugar’s main source. If u need to lose more weight than do phase 2 for a second time. Weight doesn’t come off until the end of the second week.
are you excersing?if not, that could be part of the reason. also, that’s just an average.not how much weight everyone looses.if you have been excersicing and doing well on the diet, its probably beacause you are still building up muscle

Fad diets, of ANY type, named or not, are DANGEROUS.
Eating absolutely no carbs at all means that your body has to scavenge for the energy to work. Guess what? In order to do that, it breaks-down *muscle tissue* to obtain the energy.
Guess what burns the fat? Muscle tissue. Unfortunately, your diet is causing you to digest your muscles! This means that when you go off the “diet,” you’ll gain back all the weight lost, and more, because you don’t have the “engine” to burn all the “gas” anymore!
There is also another item to keep in mind. Loosing more than 1-2 kilos (2-4 pounds) *per week* can cause some significant damage to various body systems…including the cardio-vascular system. So, if you *have* to loose a large amount of weight fast, do it under medical supervision or not at all. Also, keep in mind that with most diets, at least half the weight “lost” is water weight for the first few weeks.
If you want to loose safey, eat right, reduce your portion sizes, and do at least 30 minutes of cardio, three times a week.
As much as I despise promoting “diets,” Weight Watchers seems to be the best I’ve heard of.
