vitamin question; caltrate & women’s one a day?

hello,
i have been inconsistently taking “women’s one a day metabolism” pills because
a. i have to take them on a full stomach and seem to only remember on an empty one
and b. the pills are huge!
so i think i am going to start eating the caltrate chocolate chews (yum!) twice a day

would it be too much to do both the caltrate chews and the women’s one a day?
i like the one a day because it is supposed to boost my metabolism but i dont want to overdue it.

The Caltrate will not affect your metabolism. It will add to your calcium, which is fine. Most people, and especially most women, don’t get enough calcium in their diet. Caltrate also has Vitamin D, but the current minimum recommended daily amounts for Vitamin D are probably insufficient, according to many nutritionists, so that’s okay too.

Bottom line: take both of them, if you want. It’s fine.

. Here is what I have been doing that has really helped me. Okay so first, I eat a small breakfast everyday. Because I heard itactually makes you loose weight because it wakes up your metabolism. If you don’t eat in the morning, your metabolism “sleeps” sort of all day. So, then around like 9:30 when I start to get hungry, I take a diet pill. It is great because it curves my appetite. . Then, I eat a lot of mint gum because it only have 5 calories and makes me not hungry and drink a TON of water. If I mess up an accidentally eat, I could try to take some laxative to get rid of the food fast so it doesn’t digest and make me gain weight. At night, I typically have something really little to eat and then brush my teeth right after so that I don’t get tempted to eat more.

So, I know this might sound like a crazy diet..but it works. Is it really really bad for me? I want to be skinny, so I have to keep doing it. But I am just curious how bad it is.

That is a crazy diet. Bulimia can cause damage to your heart, especially to the heart valves. By the time the damage is bad enough for somoene to hear it with a stethoscope, the damage will be permanent.

Don’t kid yourself. Using laxatives to control weight is a serious sign of bulimia, and it will do damage to your body.

When people say, “Eat 5-6 small meals a day to increase your metabolism.”, what exactly are they saying? How many calories should these 5-6 small meals contain on a 1,400 calorie diet? (I can not, I repeat, CAN NOT eat over 1,400 calories. All I eat are vegies, fruit and a little bit of junk here and there. It would be impossible for me to eat that much.

Does eating breakfast really help speed up metabolism? I find that if I eat breakfast, I end up pigging out more through-out the day.

Someone has also told me to eat something at least every 3 hours. How will that help boost metabolism?

I drink about a gallon of water/tea a day. I’ve been walking for 3 miles everyday for a long time, but personally I don’t think that’s enough exercise.—So I started walking 5 miles yesterday. I think walking 5 miles a day plus 25 minutes on the stationary bike 3-4 days a week should be enough exercise.

Sorry, I know this question is long, but I really would appreciate your answers!

For the first question:
You exercise throughout the day. By eating many small meals in between, it’s easier for your body to burn them so they don’t turn into stored fat. Just eat the same you would eat with three meals, just in smaller amounts. I’m not sure about the breakfast part.

Like I said before, it will be easier for your body to burn fat. That is probably enough cardio, but don’t forget about the other exercises.

im 16 years old & 120lbs, ive been trying to gain weight and always thought i had a “fast metabolism”
but i now realize its cause i eat very little..
i know this isnt very normal at all, and i was wondering if i eat more like 1000-2000 calories, will i be able to gain weight like normal?
i cant believe i never realized i never really ate.

what foods are high in calories that can help me gradually increase my intake.
maybe thats why ive always felt so tired after school cause im not consuming enough..

That is very little calories, even on a strict diet. 1,200 calories for you weight is probably normal, maybe 1,400 would be better if you want to gain weight. You may be anemic and if you do not enough protein you probably are not getting enough B12 and Iron. This can explain why you are tired. You shouldn’t eat a lot of sugar and fat even if you are underweight because that is not good for anyone. Look up some good web-sites of “nutrition”. Eat three small meals a day instead of one large one. Make it balanced with carbs, vegetables and meat.
