Why cant I eat potatoes on a low carb/low glycemic diet?

I understand not eating white bread and sugar, but potatoes are natural. Surely a couple spuds a week isnt going to make you fat.

When reading food labels how can I find out the glycemic index of the product?

I am trying to lose weight and the successful celebrities that I admire that lost an impressive amount of weight said that they followed a low glycemic diet. I have been reading food labes since I started eating healthy but do not see a listing on nutritional information section of the food label for food items? Some food items like Luna Bars list this this product is low glycemic but not all lables list such information that I can see. Perhaps someone can tell me what to look for.
I am so sick of people not answering the question posted and instead trying to get my money for Acai Berry which does not work! I did not ask about Acai Berry! I asked a legitmate question about the Glycemic Index and deserve a legitimate answer!

How do I clear up my acne?

I have had acne since highschool and am now 24. lately its been worse than ever. I eat mostly a organic, low saturated fat, low cholesterol, low glycemic diet. I have used everything: proactive, drug store products, dermatologist prescribed drugs, antibiotic, topical antibiotics. My skin is very plugged and I have been diagnosed with cystic acne yet nothing works. I get a really good facial whenever I can so that I can get most of the pores cleaned, yet they build right back up with oil and white/blackheads within weeks.

Right now I’m trying some things out and trying to clear it up from the inside, not the outside. I’m sick of using all sorts of topicals which do nothing. I have nearly cut out Dairy (supposedly causes reactions dealing w/ Acne), drink a cup or 2 of green detox tea everyday, take fish oil omega vitamins, and drink a tablespoon of Maca Root powder in soy milk everyday (sup to balance hormones).

Its very painful, as is most cystic acne, and much of it cannot even be removed from the skin by facialists, because it is so deep inside the pore.

WHAT else can I do? I’m scared I will be stuck this way forever…

I would love to become a fitness instructor, but I don’t have the “body” of one?

I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. I fluctuate a lot, but had packed on 80 lbs 2 yrs ago and was diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome and am following low glycemic diet as well as exercising 5 times a week. I have dropped 30lbs and am still going slowly but steady. I really enjoy low impact exercises such as walking, elliptical, toning, pilates and tai chi. I am not into the heavy stuff. But I really enjoy the excercises I do and thought how much I would enjoy being an instructor, but I DO NOT have the body of a trainer/instructor and even after I lose teh weight I am sure I would need a little nip tuck. I just don’t know if in this business you have to look a certain way to be an example for your clients? I am confident that I can and will get back to my healthy weight but as far as being a hard body….don’t know if it can happen for me

I’m having brown discharge on my last week of active pills, what’s up?

I have been on B/C for over 3 years now. I switched to a new pill about a year ago so I know it’s not because of a new pill. I just started my last week of active pills yesterday (sunday) and noticed I had brown discharge today after visiting the RR. This has never happened to me.

The only thing that’s different is that I am visiting a Nutritionist and am on a low glycemic diet, and getting B-12 and Lipo-B shots. Also on water pill, and appetite suppressant. Could this be the cause or can I be pregnant. My husband and I have unprotected sex but I almost never miss a pill.

Also, I recently changed the time I take the pill. I use to take them around 1pm, I am now taking them at 8am.

Please help!
I have not missed a period yet, and so far not heavy discharge. No other symptoms to speak of.

fiber hurting my stomach?

ive been eating a lot of vegetables lately because im on the low glycemic diet and my stomach hurts at school for like 20 minutes every hour. is fiber most likely causing the pain? does anyone know how long these pains will last?

My mom, the stubborn diabetic. Am I right? Or is she?

My mom, god bless, is the most stubborn person I know. She was recently diagnosed with diabetes, and it’s not very well controlled. Her bloodsugar goes up and down constantly.

I keep telling her she has to switch to a low-glycemic diet and lose weight. She says it won’t matter because she has no residual insulin production, and that whatever she eats, she can just take more meds.

When it goes down, she eats and drinks sugary things, soda, chocolate etc.

Am I crazy, or is she the worst and most stubborn diabetic ever?

I have a question about whole grain rice cakes and low glycemic diets?

I know regular rice cakes are high glycemic,are whole grain brown rice cakes any better????.I love snacking on these things and am a little worried about jacking up my insulin to high during the day.!! Can I eat whole grain ones or not??Will consuming them with protien slow down the insulin spike….Thanks
