The first phase (induction) lasts a minimum of two weeks, but you can stay on it as long as you need to.
The second phase (Ongoing Weight Loss) lasts as long as you need to lose most of the weight
The third phase (Pre-Maintenance) lasts for as long as you need to reach your ideal weight and discover what level of carbs you need to maintain it and what foods help or hinder your maintenance.
The FOURTH phase (Maintenance) lasts the rest of your life.
Best to read the book if you want to do Atkins successfully.
It lasts until you get tired of the taste, which at first you thought was great
then when you quit, you gain the weight back
and where was that weight – in water
all the protein consumption causes ammonia (NH3)
in the body to build which drives the water out (and you ‘lose’ weight)
this also overloads your kidneys
and while your muscles can convert fat to energy –
your brain needs CARBS to think on! Which – I believe are missing in Atkins
*sigh*
try a different one
